Set in a fictional take on Mexico and continuing the freewheeling, ultrawealthy lifestyle that is as noxious as it is loud, Horizon overcomes its annoying trappings through the sheer joy of exploration. The world is vast and constantly changing, and there’s so much to explore at your leisure.

What’s better is the game’s insistence on allowing you to progress in any way you see fit. Don’t worry if you’re not a great driver, the game will reward you for demolition and off-roading just as much as for solid laps around the circuit. Everything is a happy little accident, and it makes the experience joyous.

The video review goes into more detail on the dynamics of the game, but long story short: Forza Horizon 5 is a classic in the making and one of the best games of the year. For anyone who hasn’t given driving games a chance before, this is the product to take the leap on.
