FROZEN 2 to receive Sámi language release in Finland
In what must be the most one of the most delightful news of the year, Disney’s FROZEN 2 is going to receive a theatrical release in Finland dubbed in the Sámi language. Considering how much of FROZEN is inspired and influenced by the native cultures of Nordic countries, it’s nice to see that they’re given the chance to shine in a wide release alongside both the English and Finnish language versions.
The news was announced by The Walt Disney Company Nordic and the Sámi Councils.
Working together with the Sámi parliament and Sámi council in a group titled Verddet, Walt Disney Animation Studios have worked to bring not just the Sámi language to audiences, but also ensure that Sámi culture is respected and celebrated as well.
“We are so proud of our Verddet which have contributed professional knowledge and their unique experiences to this work” – state the Sámi Presidents.
The Verddet group consisted of Káren Ánne Buljo, Veli-Pekka Lehtola, Cecilia Persson, Piia Nuorgam, Christina Hætta, and Ánne Lájlá Utsi.
The Sámi language version of FROZEN 2 is released on 25.12.2019.
