Conclave
Ralph Fiennes is stellar as the conflicted Cardinal Lawrence in Conclave, a Vatican-set thriller about selecting the next Pope. Directed by Edward Berger, who also made the exquisite All Quiet on the Western Front, Conclave could have easily turned into a salacious and tawdry Dan Brown-level romp. Instead, it's a finely tuned piece of pop art that is both an effective night out at the movies and a beautiful meditation on faith and institutions.
It arrives in theaters on December 20th. You can read the full review here: https://toisto.net/conclave-review-ralph-fiennes-vatican-thriller/
